After 19 years , it is with sadness that we acknowledge our physical inability to continue to host the monthly bereavement support group meeting on Clymer Street in Auburn. This year two of our original facilitators died, our beloved Dick Cove and Newell Cole. Each of the rest of us who facilitate has also experienced the death of at least one immediate family member in the recent past. For the past 11 years Jeannette Berretta and I have traveled from Horseheads on the first Tuesday of the month to combine our efforts with those of Sharon Penafeather and Edna Pratt. We have had too many close calls with possible accidents on the road to ignore the risk that it is for us, especially on the return trip in the dark with various types of weather conditions. We are grateful to Georgena Gunn, our generous publicity person, and to the many of you in the community who have financially supported the service rendered to anyone who crossed our thresh- hold looking for support in a time of grief. We can be available for support, consultation or counseling by appointment or phone call (252-5166) in the Auburn area and we do offer a meeting in Horseheads on the second Tuesday. Thus we are still a viable organization with the same mission of bereavement support. We value all the persons who have shared with each other both fragility and strength in coping with the death of loved ones. Sincerely, Christine Lloyd

MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS Provide on-going support for community members experiencing the devastating reality of the death of a loved one. Offer the opportunity to learn how to understand all feelings of grief. Welcome anyone who needs support and understanding in a time of grief regardless of any or no religious affiliation. Feature a monthly presentation on the grieving process. Various speakers are carefully chosen to share their stories, their professional expertise or the impact of the death of their loved one, whatever the nature of the death. Extend the opportunity, after the presentation and refreshments, to meet in small groups with others having similar loss experience from death. Presently there is facilitation for a bereaved parents' group, a bereaved spouses' group, a group for parents whose baby has died by miscarriage or infant death, a group for bereaved youth and young adults, and a general group for bereaved family members or friends. Encourage participants to ask questions, share feelings or just listen. Welcome educators, medical personnel and interested community members to attend our meetings to hear featured speaker presentations. WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER'S SUPPORT.....
